D-Link DSL-500 Modem - Bridge Installation

In most cases the D-Link DSL-500 has a LAN IP of 192.168.0.1. Therefore, it’s important before beginning that your computer is on the same subnet as that of the DSL-500 so you can access its web interface.

The easiest way to do this is to set your computer to “obtain an IP address” automatically and then reboot your computer. The DHCP feature of the DSL-500 upon startup will automatically assign an IP address to your computer in the 192.168.0.x range.

You are now ready to access the web interface of the DSL-500.

1. Open your web browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape.
2. Type http://192.168.0.1 into the address bar and press Enter on your keyboard.
   
   
   
3. Click on “Login to the web-based management module”.
   
   
   
4. Enter the D-Link DSL-500 username and password.
5. Click the “OK” button.
   
   
   
6. From the “Connection Profile” drop down menu, choose option:
7. AU_RouterR1483 , VPI=8, VCI=35, Router with R1483 Bridged Encap.
8. Click the “OK” button.
   
   
   
9. Select “Save changes and reboot system now”.
10. Click the “OK” button
11. The D-Link DSL-500 will now reboot…
12. You will be prompted to login again.
13. Click on “Login into the web-based management module”.
14. Enter “admin” as the username and password.
15. Click the “OK” button.
    
    
    
16. Enter in the supplied IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway.
17. Make sure Encapsulation Method is set to LLC.
18. Click the “OK” button.
    
    
    
19. Select “Continue and do ‘Save changes’ later”.
20. Click the “OK” button.
    
    
    
21. Click the “Configuration” link from the left hand menu.
22. This will expand the menu as seen above.
    
    
    
23. Click the “Proxy DNS” link from the left hand menu.
24. On the right hand screen, use the Proxy DNS drop down menu and select “disabled”.
25. Click the “OK” button.
    
    
    
26. Select “Continue and do ‘Save changes’ later”.
27. Click the “OK” button.
    
    
    
28. Click the “DHCP Configuration on LAN” link from the left hand menu.
29. On the right hand screen:
30. Enter Primary DNS as 203.12.22.10 and the Secondary DNS as 203.12.22.20.
31. Click the “OK” button.
    
    
    
32. Select “Save changes and reboot system now”.
33. Click the “OK” button
